SINGLETON JUNIOR
RUGBY CLUB
Commencing in 1968 the Singleton Bulls have been enjoying good country rugby for 53 years. In March of 1968 training of the juniors commenced, with an initial 30 players present – making up Under 10s, Under 12s and Under 14s. By the end of the season, there were 75 registered players.

The Senior Club’s colours were adopted, a red jersey with a red collar, black shorts and socks with red and black hoops.
“Throughout junior rugby’s establishment in Singleton, the emphasis was on participation. The players were encouraged to take pride in their club and to promote its good repute.” From the founding President Ian Dunlop:

“At all times the spirit of Rugby football and its best traditions are to be promoted. It is expected that all players will be aware of the virtues of fitness, good sportsmanship, modesty, tenacity, courage, determination, and discipline, and that a team and Club espirit de corps will be encouraged…”. Excerpt from SJRU Training Directive March 1969.

These are values Singleton Junior Rugby Union continue to promote today and is the foundation for what it means to run onto the field in a Bulls jersey.
Both the Junior and Senior clubs abide by the IRB and ARU laws on player inclusion, fair play, equality, sportsmanship, respect for players referees coaches and spectators and encourage members to abide by these.
