Singleton Rugby Clubs 50th year anniversary - 2016

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Members, This is a very special year for the Singleton Rugby Union Club being our 50th year. We have come a long way from the original meeting in a room at the Imperial Hotel in December 1966, where it was decided to set up to play rugby union in Singleton. There was some hard yards done by some very enthusiastic rugby personal from the beginning up to the present time. If you look at what the Club started out with to the quality facilities that we now currently boast is an absolute testament to all who have contributed over the 50 years. During these 50 years the Club has competed in two different rugby competitions. Originally playing in the Hunter Valley Rugby Union competition to the end of the 1989 season, when the Club then moved into the Newcastle Hunter Rugby Union competition in 1990. Our current coaching staff with Bob Harris in control are seeing our players steadily improving since our re-emergence to the NHRU Premier competition. Bob and his football staff have been working really hard with the players on their fitness and skill aspects, so let’s get in and support all of our teams this season. The 50 year anniversary committee has selected two dates for celebration events this year, being a re-union weekend on the 28th May and a Black Tie Dinner on the 30th July. Please contact the club either directly or via our website for more information. Thank-you to all of our past and present players, football staff, members and sponsors for your generosity and support over the past 50 years. Hopefully our next 50 years can be as successful as our first 50 years.

Bulls Start New Division in Style

Following a player vote prior to the season, the Singleton Rugby Clubs has made the decision to enter teams in the First and Second Division NHRU competitions rather than Premier.

A tough decision to make, however the players have bonded exceptionally well and started this new chapter in the Club's history in style.
